Level 2 Food Safety in Catering

The level 2 qualification are suitable for anyone working in the catering, manufacturing or retail sectors where food is prepared, cooked or handled, such as:

  • Food outlets, pubs, restaurants, hotels
  • Retail outlets, supermarkets, service stations
  • Food and drink manufacturers
  • Hospitals, care homes and residential nursing homes
  • Schools
  • Prisons

The qualifications have been designed to meet the learning needs of specific business environments and meet the National Occupational Standards (NOS).

The syllabus is flexible and can betailored to meet specific needs.

 

Course Content: Duration:
  • Legislation
    Food safety hazards
    Temperature control
    Refrigeration, chilling and cold holding
    Cooking, hot holding and reheating
    Food handling
    Principles of safe food storage
    Cleaning
    Food premises and equipment

One day programme, can be delivered over two half-day sessions.

Assessment is by 30 question, multiple-choice examination.
Oral examinations, and some foreign language exam papers are available on request.

Larger groups can be accommodated dependant on suitable training venue. Larger groups will incur additional

We are able to deliver sector-specific Level 1 qualifications in:

Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering
Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Manufacturing
Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Retail

Progression route is to the Level 3 Award in Food Safety (Supervisory level)
